Productions of all sizes have embraced our firearms for many reasons, but Safety, Budget and Realism are the top few. Realistic guns, but without the very real dangers that blanks posses is important to our clients. These dangers, accompanied with the sometimes not affordable wrangler fees that can easily hit $400.00 per day. About our firearms
Until now, there were only two options - safe weapons (props) or live weapons (blank firing). So we are clear, a safe weapon (prop) is a plastic mold or foam creation used as a prop - it does nothing. Live weapons are real guns that chamber real shells (blanks) and can create real dangers and cost real big money. NEXUS Canada is out to change that.

All of our firearms are exact 1:1 replicas. Both in size, weight and action. They are dual operation and can be powered either by blank or by a low power gas - similar to the gas released from a blank, but not as powerful or as loud. This second option lessens the dangers and public annoyance. They all have real blow back action and triggers, hammers, bolts and slides all operate as if a real weapon.

In person, there is really no telling the difference, so on camera it's impossible. They make amazing prop weapons and safe, realistic firing weapons. The only thing these guns can't do is produce muzzle flash.

The Muzzle Flash Solution
With technology advancing the way it is, motion tracking and post-production software is readily available to almost anyone. It is simple to use, inexpensive and extremely high quality. So, the question is, do you really need live weapons? This video demonstrates a gas powered firearm being fired. It is then treated in post for muzzle flash and shell ejection.

On-set (Practical) firing Comparison
Live Weapons - To achieve muzzle flash you must fire a blank. To fire a blank you need a weapons wrangler. To have blank fire and wranglers you need lots of money. A blank will cost an average of 60 cents each. Some can cost as much as $1.00 depending on the company and type of firearm.

NEXUS Canada's weapons offer a solution to blanks and therefore do not produce muzzle flash, but replicate every other operation. How they do this is a long explanation, but lets just say it is by custom designed magazines that house compressed gas. Each magazine will provide about 40 implied rounds - or shots. One mag fill costs around 80 cents. Granted you will need to motion track muzzle flash in post, but lets look a the reality of it.

Q. Do these weapons look and feel real?
A. Yes, all the weapons are exact replicas, on 1:1 scales, weight, size and action.

Q. Can the weapons be cocked like a real gun?
A. Yes, the weapons can be cocked like a real gun.

Q. Do the guns fire?
A. Yes, the guns fire and they are rather loud. When they fire, they operate like a real gun and the slide will cycle (blow back) automatically re-cocking the gun in both single and double action weapons.

Q. When do I need handlers and/or PDO (Pay duty officer)?
A. You will need a handler when the weapon is being fired at someone and/or used in public.PDO is also required on all outdoor/public locations with weapons, firing or otherwise. For private locations such as warehouses, check with local law enforcement for their policy on this matter.

Q. What if I am not firing the weapon and I am not using it in public?
A. You can simply rent any weapon. The weapon will be incapable of firing. This is called a 'Dry Rental'

Q. I am located outside of Ontario; can I still rent these guns?
A. Yes. We provide firearms to out-of-province productions everyday. A shipping charge applies to transport them to you and return them to us.

A. Yes. If you are renting more than one gun or a term rental longer than 3 days, we will give you a package deal and discount.
